We got our tree picked up last Saturday as announced, so on Tuesday we put it up and decorated it. The bulk of the gifts will be added early next week. Except Santa\u2019s of course ^^, those won\u2019t be delivered till the night before (we\u2019re taking turns being Santa and this year it\u2019s on us).
\nWir haben unsere Weihnachtsbaum wie angek\u00fcndigt am letzten Samstag gekauft und am Dienstag haben wir ihn aufgestellt und geschm\u00fcckt. Der Gro\u00dfteil der Geschenke kommt Anfang n\u00e4chster Woche drunter. Au\u00dfer die vom Weihnachtsmann nat\u00fcrlich ^^, die kommen erst in der Nacht davor (wir wechseln uns jedes Jahr ab mit dem Weihnachtsmann, diesmal sind wir dran).

\nSince Bill& Debbie left for Alabama on the 18th<\/sup>, we went out for my birthday on Wednesday (which still feels wrong. Germans are so particular about not doing anything birthday early, it\u2019ll take me much longer to get used to that apparently ^^). Then Alyssa had her 5th<\/sup> grade Christmas music program on Thursday and the week was almost over once more \u2013 time has been flying like crazy these past few months.<\/p>\n

Da Bill& Debbie am 18. Richtung Alabama losgefahren sind, haben wir das Essen zu Ehren meines Geburtstags schon am Mittwoch veranstaltet (was sich immer noch komisch anf\u00fchlt, da wir in Deutschland ja grunds\u00e4tzlich total gegen irgendeine Art von Vorfeiern sind; anscheinend brauche ich noch eine Weile um mich daran zu gew\u00f6hnen ^^). Am Donnerstag hatte Alyssa dann ihr musikalisches Weihnachtsprogramm mit allen F\u00fcnftkl\u00e4sslern und schwupps war die Woche fast schon wieder rum \u2013 die Zeit ist in den letzten Monaten so derart gerast.

\nFor my actual birthday I took Adam to work at 4:30 am, cleaned the house and did laundry and went for a run ^^. No seriously, I did. But I also got to skype with family and friends during the day and Adam and I went out to eat at the Wine Cellar and Bistro in Columbia and to our favorite movie theater afterwards.
\nWhich reminds me \u2013 I\u2019m getting him a membership for that theater for Christmas and guess what \u2013 instead of sending it to me (I did check \u201cgift\u201d and \u201csend to me, not the member\u201d), they had addressed it to him and made the membership out to me ^^. So sadly he has known about it for weeks. Grrr\u2026 But at least they corrected it without any problems and gave us the discount that time I went in there to ask them to change it all.<\/p>\n

An meinem tats\u00e4chlichen Geburtstag habe ich Adam um 4:30 Uhr morgens zur Arbeit gefahren, das Haus geputzt, W\u00e4sche gewaschen und war joggen ^^. Im Ernst, so war es. Aber ich habe au\u00dferdem mit Freunden und Familie in Deutschland geskypt und Adam und ich sind abends im Wine Cellar& Bistro in Columbia und unserem Lieblingskino gewesen.
\nAch ja \u2013 ich schenke ihm zu Weihnachten eine Mitgliedschaft in diesem Kino und ratet mal \u2013 anstatt mir die Unterlagen zu schicken (ich hatte \u201eGeschenk\u201c und \u201ean mich schicken, nicht das Mitglied\u201c angekreuzt), haben sie diese an ihn adressiert und auf mich ausgestellt ^^. Also wei\u00df er leider schon seit Wochen Bescheid. Grr… Aber wenigstens haben sie es alles ohne Probleme berichtigt und uns beim letzten Besuch (als ich ihnen die falsche Karte zur\u00fcckbrachte) schon den Rabatt gew\u00e4hrt.

\nOn the alcoholic front of things we got to drink some excellent German gin this weekend (thx, Liz!) :).
