So what\u2019s new? Quite a few things actually and all job related. So first off I should say I worked almost all week this week, lol. I\u2019m still happy to go to work every day and hope that lasts for a while (it\u2019s not like I don\u2019t remember what it\u2019s like to not want to go. It\u2019s apparently just been long enough since I last worked ^^).<\/p>\n
On Monday a co-worker caught me by surprise by asking me all these questions of what my plans are and then told me that they had an opening in their (legal) department and she thought maybe I would like to test for it. I was quite surprised but pleasantly so and after clearing it with my superior aka Mother-in-law, I took that test Tuesday morning. After I got done and had just made it to the bathroom (so should have gone before starting the text, lol), I was immediately summoned to a spontaneous interview with the Vice President and the Senior Vice President to speak about the opening. Although I \u2013 quote \u2013 impressed them, they decided not to offer me that position because they thought my \u2013 quote \u2013 energy and smarts could be used so much better elsewhere in the company and there would be no advancement for me in that job and that I would get bored working as a legal assistant with nothing but real estate for a focus. However they assured me that they really want me in the company and started making calls immediately, it seems. I was also told to report on any job offers I got and let them know before I accepted a job anywhere else.<\/p>\n
On that note, I had my interview at the Small Business and Technology Development Center at Truman University on Monday and that went really well. On Wednesday I got another call for an interview, this time from the Moberly Are Community College and I was scheduled to be going there this coming Monday for an interview.
\nHowever I thought none of this mattered when, on Thursday, I finally heard back from MU and they offered me the job I had interviewed for a week prior (an administrative position that sounded really interesting, but unfortunately didn\u2019t pay too well). I was given a day to think about it and very much inclined to accept the position, but made good on my promise to tell the management that I had been made an offer that I wanted to accept. So I did and suddenly on Friday morning I was summoned to my second spontaneous interview this week and offered a position as a legal assistant to the entire legal department with a focus on \u2013 among other things \u2013 managing their trademark portfolio and acting as a liaison for marketing within the legal department for all other parts of the company.<\/p>\n
Are you still with me? Because my head at this point was spinning so fast I thought I would just faint. Did I mention that I was called to the HR boss about 30 minutes after said interview and got handed a contract with \u2013 among other things \u2013 higher pay that would start dating back to last Monday?? And \u201call\u201d I had to do was make a decision by Friday afternoon (as promised to MU). Which I did. I admit it was with a heavy heart told MU that I wasn\u2019t accepting the position there \u2013 not because the job at Orscheln doesn\u2019t sound great or I don\u2019t like working there, but just because I had always liked the idea of working for MU. Anyway, I now have a permanent job and we’ll see how it goes from here…<\/p>\n
Was gibt es Neues? So Einiges und alles hat mit Arbeit zu tun. Zuerst sollte ich erw\u00e4hnen, dass ich fast die gesamte letzte Woche gearbeitet habe, lol. Ich freue mich immer noch jeden Morgen dar\u00fcber, zur Arbeit zu kommen und hoffe das h\u00e4lt noch eine Weile an (es ist ja nicht so als w\u00fcrde ich mich nicht an andere Zeiten erinnern, es scheint nur lange genug her zu sein, dass ich gearbeitet habe ^^).<\/strong><\/p>\n Am Montag hat mich eine Kollegin \u00fcberrascht, indem sie mir alle m\u00f6glichen Fragen \u00fcber meine Zukunftspl\u00e4ne gestellt hat, um mir dann zu sagen, dass bei ihnen in der Rechtsabteilung eine Stelle frei sei und mich fragte, ob ich an einem Test f\u00fcr diese Stelle teilnehmen wollen w\u00fcrde. Ich war sehr (freudig) \u00fcberrascht und nachdem ich das Ganze mit meiner Chefin aka Schwiegermutter gekl\u00e4rt hatte, habe ich mich am Dienstag morgen dem Test gestellt. Nachdem ich fertig war und es gerademal zur Toilette geschafft hatte (ich h\u00e4tte mal vorher gehen sollen, lol), wurde ich zu einem spontanen Job-Interview zur Vize Pr\u00e4sidentin und dem ihr noch \u00fcberstellten Senior-Vize Pr\u00e4sidenten gerufen, um \u00fcber die Stelle zu sprechen. Obwohl ich sie \u2013 Zitat \u2013 beeindruckt habe, haben sie sich dazu entschlossen mir die Stelle nicht anzubieten, da sie denken, dass meine \u2013 Zitat \u2013 Energie und Intelligenz an anderer Stelle in der Firma viel besser genutzt werden k\u00f6nnten und dass ich keine Entwicklungschancen in der Stelle h\u00e4tte und dass sie denken, dass ich mich als Rechtsanwaltsgehilfin mit nichts als Immobilien-Recht als Fokus sicher schnell langweilen w\u00fcrde. Allerdings w\u00fcrden sie mich unbedingt gerne in der Firma behalten und fingen anscheinend sofort an herumzutelefonieren. Mir wurde au\u00dferdem auferlegt, die beiden \u00fcber m\u00f6gliche Arbeitsangebote zu informieren und ihnen Bescheid zu geben, bevor ich etwas anderes annehme. K\u00f6nnt ihr alle noch folgen? Ich wusste n\u00e4mlich zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht mehr so genau, wo mir der Kopf stand und dachte ich fall gleich um. Hatte ich erw\u00e4hnt, dass ich 30 Minuten nach dem Spontan-Interview zu unserem Personalleiter gerufen wurde und einen Vertrag in die Hand gedr\u00fcckt bekommen hatte, der u.a. eine bessere Bezahlung enthielt (mit Startdatum des vergangenen Montags)?? \u201cDas Einzige\u201d was ich tun musste war bis Freitag nachmittag eine Entscheidung treffen (hatte ich der Uni ja so zugesagt). Auch das habe ich getan. Und MU schweren Herzens eine Absage erteilt \u2013 nicht weil ich den Job bei Orscheln nicht spannend finde oder hier nicht gerne arbeiten m\u00f6chte \u2013 ich h\u00e4tte einfach gerne an der MU gearbeitet. Na ja, jetzt habe ich also einen festen Job und wir schauen wir mal wo die Reise hingeht\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n P.S. Did I mention that I got paid for the first time on Friday? \n Was mich zu meinem Interview mit einem der Truman University angeschlossenem Zentrum am vergangenen Montag bringt, welches ebenfalls wirklich gut gelaufen war. Am Mittwoch rief dann noch die Uni in Moberly an um f\u00fcr kommenden Montag einen Interiview-Termin auszumachen.<\/strong>
\n Allerdings dachte ich, dass das sowieso alles egal sei, da am Donnerstag endlich der langersehnte Anruf von MU kam und mir der Job f\u00fcr den ich am Donnerstag davor zum Interview eingeladen war angeboten wurde (eine nicht wirklich gut bezahlte, aber sehr interessante Administrations-Stelle). Ich durfte einen Tag lang dr\u00fcber nachdenken und war \u00fcberzeugt davon, dass ich die Stelle annehmen w\u00fcrde, habe mich aber wie versprochen daran gehalten meinen momentanen Bossen von dem Jobinterview zu erz\u00e4hlen. Gesagt, getan und schwupps sa\u00df ich am Freitag morgen in meinem zweiten spontanen Job-Interview hier diese Woche. Prompt wurde mir daraufhin eine Stelle als Rechtsanwaltsfachangestellte f\u00fcr die gesamte Rechtsabteilung angeboten, mit einem Schwerpunkt \u2013 das wird nicht alles sein, was ich mache \u2013 auf dem Management des Marken-Portfolios und als Marketing-Ansprechpartner innerhalb der Rechtsabteilung f\u00fcr alle anderen Unternehmenszweige.<\/strong><\/p>\n
