I’ve always wanted to take a hammer to a wall and my wish has now been granted ^^. How you ask? Well: Bill& Debbie had been talking about redoing the bathroom adjoining their bedroom for months but the starting date had gotten moved due to visitors and trips. All that being over, the project was promptly started last week and since Adam and I had offered our help months ago, we got another load of home improvement dished out to us this past Friday.
\nI’ve never been part of a demolition before but as most of you can probably imagine I loved it. Hammering holes into walls, pulling sheetrock from the walls and ceiling, taking out three layers of flooring and burning most of what had been taking out afterwards whilst enjoying a Busch light \ud83d\ude09 (yes, that happened – I drank a can of beer by the fire. Two actually.) – it was quite a day. I got wet twice, once because I turned on the shower to see a screw – the water had not been turned off however and the second time because Adam accidentally cut a pipe and I was in the line of fire. I mean water. Bill’s fingers almost got cut off by a saw (the same Adam cut the pipe with, actually) and I discovered a nail sticking out of my shoe after it was all over- it had missed my foot entirely though.<\/p>\n

Ich wollte ja schon immer mal mit einem Hammer in eine Wand schlagen und dieser Wunsch hat sich jetzt erf\u00fcllt ^^. Wie das? Bill und Debbie sprachen schon seit Monaten davon das ans Schlafzimmer grenzende Bad in ihrem Haus zu entkernen und neu zu gestalten, aber das Startdatum wurde aufgrund von Besuchen und k\u00fcrzeren Reisen verschoben. Nachdem all das nun vorbei war konnte es losgehen und Adam und ich, die schon vor Monaten unsere Hilfe angeboten hatten, genossen Freitag die n\u00e4chste Runde Heimwerkerei.
\nIch war noch nie an einem Abbruch-Projekt beteiligt, aber wie sich die Meisten von euch wohl denken k\u00f6nnen, fand ich es genial. L\u00f6cher in W\u00e4nde hauen, drei Lagen Boden abschaben\/ raus brechen und dann das Meiste am Ende des Tages verbrennen und dazu ein Busch light trinken \ud83d\ude09 (Ja, das ist wirklich passiert – ich habe eine Dose Bier am Lagerfeuer getrunken. 2 um genau zu sein.) – was f\u00fcr ein Tag. Ich bin zweimal nass geworden: Einmal, weil ich die Dusche angemacht habe um eine Schraube zu finden – das Wasser war allerdings nicht abgestellt – und ein zweites Mal weil Adam aus Versehen eine Leitung durchges\u00e4gt hat und ich genau in Spritzrichtung s\u00e4gte. Bills Finger wurden fast von der S\u00e4ge erwischt (dieselbe mit der Adam die Wasserleitung durchges\u00e4gt hat) und am Lagerfeuer entdeckte ich einen Nagel, der in meinem Schuh steckte und geradeso an meinem Fu\u00df vorbei gegangen war.<\/strong>

\nAlthough there was plenty of stuff on that pile that you can probably get arrested for if you’d burn it in Germany, I should say that we took an entire truckload of stuff to the dump and only burnt some illegal stuff :).<\/p>\n

In Deutschland w\u00e4re man f\u00fcr einige Dinge, die auf diesem Scheiterhaufen verbrannt wurden wahrscheinlich verhaftet worden, aber fairerweise muss man sagen dass wir eine ganze Truckladung Zeug zur M\u00fcllkippe gefahren hatten und nur ein paar illegale Sachen verbrannt haben :).
