Apparently one can get excited about all kinds of things after not having been in one’s home country for a while. Like Aldi ^^. Not a store I cared for much in Germany (except for a few choice products), but the prospect of going and actually being there last Wednesday made me all giddy and I enjoyed the visit a lot. „It looks exactly like in Germany“ and „Look, look, look, they sell that in Germany too“ (Moser-Roth chocolate) and „Hihihi, this says imported from Germany. Oh, Adam, read this, you understand that, don’t you?“. We were there a while :D.<\/p>\n

Die Liste der Dinge die einen pl\u00f6tzlich begeistern wenn man lange nicht mehr in seinem Heimatland war w\u00e4chst. Aldi wurde diese Woche hinzugef\u00fcgt ^^. Ein Laden den ich in Deutschland wenig mochte (au\u00dfer f\u00fcr ein paar ausgew\u00e4hlte Produkte), aber die Aussicht auf einen Besuch bei Aldi am vergangenen Mittwoch f\u00fcllte mich fast schon mit Euphorie und ich genoss den Einkauf total. „Sieht genau wie in Deutschland aus“ und „Guck mal, das verkaufen die in Deutschland auch (Moser-Roth Schokolade) und „Hihihi, das hier ist extra aus Deutschland importiert worden. Oh, Adam, lies das – das verstehst du, oder?“. Wir waren eine Weile dort :D.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThen there was Owen’s Spring program and Alyssa’s second to last gymnastics‘ meet. Since Owen is still one of the younger ones, only two other groups did their thing before his and we were able to leave right after he got done. Alyssa’s meets can take up to 4 hours (as I was informed from last year), so we felt pretty lucky to be out of there after about 2.<\/p>\n

Au\u00dferdem hatten beide Kinder diese Woche Auff\u00fchrungen: Owen mit seiner Vorschulklasse (schwer erkennbar aber da – auf dem Bild in der vorderen Reihe ganz rechts) und Alyssa mit ihrem Gymnastik-Team (sie ist die Zweite von links). Da Owen noch einer der kleineren ist, waren nur 2 Gruppen vor seiner dran und wir konnten direkt nach seinem Auftritt verschwinden. Bei Alyssa dauert so ein Wettkampf (der vorletzte der Saison)- so h\u00f6re ich aus dem letzten Jahr – auch mal gerne 4 Stunden, da hatten wir also Gl\u00fcck dass es nach ca. 2 vorbei war ^^. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\nLast but not least I should report on what’s happened around the house this past week: I mowed our yard (and got the desired reaction from the neighbors, lol) and got sunburnt in the process. We also re-stained our deck this week and are very happy with the result – neither of us thought it would look any different but it does (darker and more even-colored).<\/p>\n

Zu guter Letzt sollte ich noch berichten, was ums Haus herum passiert ist diese Woche: I habe gem\u00e4ht (und die gew\u00fcnschte Reaktion der Nachbarn bekommen, lol) und mich dabei leider auch gut verbrannt. Au\u00dferdem haben wir unsere Terasse gebeizt und sind begeistert vom Ergebnis – wir hatten nicht wirklich damit gerechnet, dass es soviel besser aussieht, aber das tut es (dunkler und gleichm\u00e4\u00dfiger).<\/strong><\/p>\n
