What was going on around here last week? It started with another visit at the dentist’s and the filling of tiny whole number 1. It took less anesthetic than usual (baby tooth) and all of 5 minutes and I was out of there. My lip hung down for hours anyway :):<\/p>\n

Was gab es so in meiner letzten Woche? Sie startete mit einem Besuch beim Zahnarzt und der Bearbeitung von Loch Nr. 1. Es hat eine halbe Bet\u00e4ubung (weil Milchzahn) und knapp 5 Minuten gedauert, dann war das Ganze auch schon vorbei. Meine Lippe hing trotzdem noch ein paar Stunden lang :):<\/p>\n

In things bureaucracy my license finally came on Monday and had – of course – expired the Saturday before ^^. That’s because my I-94 expired on March 14th. Still a bummer because I can neither be added to our bank accounts nor do I have it for an id…
\nAn der B\u00fcrokratie-Front kam am letzten Montag endlich mein amerikanischer F\u00fchrerschein an und war samstags vorher abgelaufen ^^. Das liegt daran, dass meine Einreise am 14. M\u00e4rz 3 Monate zur\u00fccklag und ich somit keine Aufenthaltserlaubnis auf Basis des touristischen Einreisefomulars I-94 habe. Nervig, weil ich somit weiterhin keinen Zugriff auf unser Bankkonto bekommen kann und wieder kein g\u00fcltiges amerikanisches Ausweisdokument habe…<\/p>\n

\nAt least I also received written confirmation of my case being processed at the USCIS now – meaning my adjustment of status, travel and employment authorization. No illegal alien after all, phew ;). For the adjustment of status they need my biometric data so I knew an appointment in one of their field offices was coming up (St. Louis is responsible for Macon County according to their website). Which we’ll be in St. Louis on April 1st and 2nd on a mini vacation with the kids during spring break. SO what came on Saturday? A letter telling me I have an appointment at the field office in Kansas City<\/strong> on April 1st at 1 pm. Really?? I have nothing, absolutely nothing planned ever – except that day ^^. So we’re moving the trip up one day. If it isn’t Murphy’s law at its best…<\/p>\n

Immerhin kamen am Montag ebenfalls alle Best\u00e4tigungen, dass mein „Fall“ nun bearbeitet wird – sprich mein Status sowie die vorl\u00e4ufige Arbeits- und Reisegenehmigung. Doch nicht illegal im Land, puh ;). F\u00fcr die Status-Anpassung muss ich meine biometrischen Daten erfassen lassen (nicht dass die Amis diese nicht schon vielfach h\u00e4tten, aber gut) und daf\u00fcr – laut Website der Beh\u00f6rde – nach St. Louis. Da sind wir am 1. und 2. April weil die Kids Osterferien haben und wir einen zweit\u00e4gigen Mini-Urlaub machen. Was kam am Samstag? Der Brief, dass ich am 1. April um 1 einen Termin in Kansas City<\/strong> zur Erfassung der biometrischen Daten habe. Echt jetzt?? Ich habe ungef\u00e4hr nie was vor – au\u00dfer an dem Tag ^^. Also verschieben wir den Trip nach St. Louis um einen Tag. Aber wenn das nicht Murphy’s Law vom Allerfeinsten ist…<\/p>\n

What else? Well, I proudly present: the first time we actually had time to read together for more than 10 minutes since I got here!
\nWas passierte sonst? Wir es zum ersten Mal seit ich hier angekommen bin (!) geschafft zusammen mehr als 10 Minuten zu lesen – ein Meilenstein.<\/p>\n

Oh yeah, I’ve been painting again as well ^^. The door to our closet beneath the stairs to be precise. Then I looked to my right and saw the inside of the garage door which made me frown… I think that one is next.<\/p>\n

Ach so ja, ich hab auch wieder was gestrichen ^^. Die T\u00fcr zum Stauraum unter der Treppe um genau zu sein. Dann habe ich nach rechts geschaut und die Innenseite der Garagent\u00fcr mit wachsendem Stirnrunzeln betrachtet… Ich glaube die ist als N\u00e4chstes dran.<\/p>\n
