\nThat’s right, it was Super Bowl Sunday and just like last year (because they were such a hit), I made pretzels again. Unlike last year, I had coarse salt handy this time though and some help (see picture 2). Yum!
\nYup, am Sonntag war der Super Bowl und wie im letzten Jahr (da sie so gro\u00dfen Anklang gefunden hatten), habe ich Brezeln gebacken. In diesem Jahr hatte ich allerdings zum einen Hilfe (siehe Bild 2) und zum anderen grobes Salz zum Bestreuen. Lecker!<\/strong><\/p>\n

In other news I had my adventure for the year yesterday when it started raining ice in the afternoon. As it so happen Adam had accidentally taken the car key to work with him, so I had to drive the truck to work. The truck with rear-wheel drive. Long story short – a semi passed me as I was slowly making my way home on the highway (having already slid just trying to get out of my work’s parking lot) and the wind got my tail sliding and I landed in the ditch. As Adam said later „the picture doesn’t do the ditch justice“ – I was a good 6 feet under street level and fully turned towards it as you can\u00a0see. He came to my rescue and somehow managed to get the truck out of there and drove it home (it had snowed all the time while I was sitting in the ditch, so there was more traction on the road). The truck is fine, I’m fine and I got right back on the horse (so to speak – meaning I got to drive the car home in that mess) – but I don’t have to do that again. I will say I had a ton of people stop and ask if I needed help, so that was pretty awesome.
\nIn weiteren Nachrichten habe ich das Abenteuer f\u00fcr 2018 gestern auf dem Heimweg abgehakt, nachdem es am Nachmittag flei\u00dfig Eis geregnet hat. Adam hatte versehentlich den Autoschl\u00fcssel mit zur Arbeit genommen, also musste ich mit dem Truck (Hinterradantrieb) zur Arbeit fahren. Um es kurz zu machen – ein Lastwagen ist mit ca. 100 Sachen an mir vorbeigerauscht (nachdem ich schon beim Abbiegen vom Parkplatz meiner Arbeit auf die Stra\u00dfe flei\u00dfig gerutscht war und entsprechend langsam unterwegs war) und der Wind seines \u00dcberholman\u00f6vers hat mir den (Truck-)Hintern ins Rutschen gebracht und mich in den Graben bef\u00f6rdert. Wie Adam sp\u00e4ter sagte: „Das Bild tut dem Graben unrecht“, ich war ziemlich tief drin, knapp unter 2 Metern und schaute in Richtung Stra\u00dfe. Er kam zu meiner Rettung und hat es dann auch noch geschafft den Truck aus dem Graben zu kriegen und nachhause zu fahren (es hatte w\u00e4hrend ich im Graben sa\u00df die ganze Zeit geschneit und somit das Eis bedeckt, soll hei\u00dfen die Stra\u00dfe war etwas weniger rutschig). Mit dem Truck ist alles ok, mit mir auch und ich bin gleich wieder „aufgestiegen“ (sozusagen – ich durfte das Auto nachhause fahren) – aber das muss ich alles nicht nochmal haben. Ich muss allerdings sagen, es war toll wie viele Leute angehalten haben und gefragt haben, ob ich Hilfe brauche.

\n<\/strong>My highlight of the past few weeks has been teaching my in-laws ‚Double head‘, a German card game that is complex to say the least, but since they are card players and know a lot of different games, Adam thought they would catch on quickly and they have. So I’ve made little sheets with the rules and haven’t introduced any special rules yet (since there are like 15 at, we’re going to take it slowly there) and we’ve been playing every few nights to get them used to how it’s done. Yay!
\nMein Highlight der letzten Wochen war, dass ich meinen Schwiegereltern Doppelkopf beigebracht habe (Adam hat es vor ca. einem Jahr gelernt und beim letzten Besuch in Deutschland getestet). Da sie beide viele Kartenspiele kennen und dauernd spielen, war Adam der Meinung, dass sie es recht schnell lernen sollten und er hatte Recht. Also habe ich eine nette \u00dcbersicht der Regeln erstellt (alle Sonderregeln kommen erst noch) und wir haben schon\u00a0diverse Mal gespielt, damit sie sich an die\u00a0„Hierarchie“ der Karten gew\u00f6hnen k\u00f6nnen. Endlich wieder DoKo!<\/strong>
