Have I got news for you: Adam has a new job!!! He will start on September 6th and – drumroll – work weekdays just like me! We are super excited and he is really looking forward to this new position – he will still be in IT and work at the power plant and be in charge of their maintenance system. It’s quite the step up for him, so hurrahs all around :).
\nIch habe tolle Nachrichten: Adam hat einen neuen Job!!! Er startet am 6.9. und wird dann – Trommelwirbel – an Wochentagen arbeiten, genau wie ich! Wir sind ziemlich begeistert und er freut sich sehr auf die neue Position – immer noch IT, f\u00fcr unseren Energiezulieferer im Kraftwerk und er wird deren System warten. F\u00fcr ihn ist das eine gro\u00dfer Schritt nach oben (Karriereleiter und so), also freuen sich alle \u00fcber alles :).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monday was the first day of school (2nd and 7th grade), so we did what everybody does and took pictures before we took the kids to school.
\nAm Montag war der erste Schultag, also haben wir dasselbe gemacht, wie alle anderen und Fotos geschossen, bevor wir die Kinder in die Schule gebracht haben. Owen ist jetzt in der 2. und Alyssa in der 7. Klasse.

\n<\/a>On Monday we also had a total eclipse here in MO, Moberly was actually the furthest Northern point to still experience totality. Don’t be fooled by Deb’s pic though – it was so cloudy that we saw nothing at all. All the stores in the area had been selling eclipse-themed crap for weeks and I won that b-e-a-utiful frisbee in a game at work. What really sucked was the way home though – it took me an hour, because all the out-of-staters from up North went back home and Macon, a bottle-neck for traffic if I’ve ever seen one, was completely backed up for miles onto the highway.
\nAm Montag gab es au\u00dferdem eine totale Sonnenfinsternis und Moberly, wo ich arbeite, war am \u00e4u\u00dfersten Rand der Totalit\u00e4t. Aber lasst euch vom Foto mit Debbie nicht t\u00e4uschen – es war so bew\u00f6lkt, dass wir rein gar nichts gesehen haben. Alle L\u00e4den in der Umgebung hatten aber seit Wochen jeglichen Kram zum Thema verkauft und ich habe diese bildsch\u00f6ne Frisbee bei einem Spiel im B\u00fcro gewonnen. Was echt \u00fcbel war, war dass es eine geschlagene Stunde gedauert hat, bis ich es am sp\u00e4ten Nachmittag nach Macon geschafft habe, weil so viele Leute aus dem Norden der USA nach Columbia und Jefferson City gefahren waren und alle auf dem R\u00fcckweg durch Macon wollen (zweispurig= \u00fcbelster Stau).<\/strong>

\nLast but not least I finally got my voting stuff from Germany yesterday. I thought my stuff had gotten lost for sure, but it looks like I get a say after all :).
\nZu guter Letzt kamen gestern endlich meine Wahlunterlagen an – ich war h\u00f6chst erfreut, da ich mittlerweile \u00fcberzeugt davon war, dass die es nie zu mir schaffen w\u00fcrden – sieht so aus als ob ich doch eine Stimme kriege :).<\/strong>
