As you probably all know, Halloween is a big deal around here (and luckily over after tomorrow), so at work they do an annual pumpkin carving\/ decorating contest. I was actually very impressed by some of these creations – the first picture is the one our part of the building turned in (carved by one of the guys).
\nIhr k\u00f6nnt euch vermutlich vorstellen, dass Halloween hier immer gro\u00df gefeiert wird (ich bin so froh, wenn der Spuk morgen vorbei ist) und bei der Arbeit gibt es jedes Jahr einen Wettbewerb um den bestgeschnitzten\/-dekorierten K\u00fcrbis. Ich war allerdings ziemlich beeindruckt von einigen dieser Kreationen. Das erste Bild zeigt den K\u00fcrbis, den meine Ecke des Geb\u00e4udes eingereicht hat – geschnitzt vom Sohn des Oberchefs.<\/strong>

\nThe pig won (I had voted for it, too :)). The Cubs pumpkin got second.
\nDas Schwein hat gewonnen (ich hatte auch daf\u00fcr gestimmt :)) und der Chicago Cubs Pumpkin war Nr. 2.

In other news they opened the Walmart DC for Associates‘ families for the first time in over 10 years yesterday and did guided tours of the warehouse and a cook out, plus pumpkins & games for the kids. I was sooo excited – I had wanted to go in there forever (I’ve been to the office part many times, but the warehouse is always totally off-limits) and apparently so had a lot of others – there was even a line to get into the door (let alone for the tours and food). Taking pictures is not allowed, so I can’t show you anything; let’s just say it’s a very big warehouse with a lot of (cooled) food in it. Therefore it’s also very cold in there. Especially the icecream freezer!<\/p>\n

Des weiteren wurde gestern Adams Arbeitsplatz zum ersten Mal seit \u00fcber 10 Jahren f\u00fcr die Familien der Angestellten ge\u00f6ffnet und gef\u00fchrte Touren des Warenhauses angeboten. Essen gab es auch (und K\u00fcrbisse und Spiele f\u00fcr die Kinder). Ich war total begeistert, weil ich da seit Jahren reinwollte (im B\u00fcro-Teil des Geb\u00e4udes war ich schon \u00f6fter, aber der Rest ist normalerweise absolut verboten). Offensichtlich waren auch andere sehr angetan – die Schlangen, um \u00fcberhaupt ins Geb\u00e4ude zu kommen, f\u00fcrs Essen und vor allem f\u00fcr die Touren waren unglaublich. Man darf nicht fotografieren, also hab ich leider nichts, dass ich zeigen k\u00f6nnte. Das Warenhaus ist einfach riesig und enth\u00e4lt eine irrsinnige Menge an (gek\u00fchltem) Essen. Dementsprechend ist es wirklich kalt da drinnen. Vor allem in dem Raum, in dem Eis gelagert wird.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
