On July 4th Adam and I had some unexpexted time together, because he called into work Monday morning. Our new-found time was used quite elaborately with a trip to a state park that’s located between Moberly and Columbia. Adam had taken the kids there before this summer, but since I was working I hadn’t been. So we went on a little hike that led through quite a bit of water (it had rained hard all weekend).
\nAm 4. Juli hatte ich frei und Adam hat morgens spontan bei der Arbeit angerufen und ebenfalls frei genommen. Somit hatten wir pl\u00f6tzlich einen ganzen freien Tag zusammen und haben diesen ausgiebig ausgenutzt. Zuerst waren wir in einem Naturpark zwischen Moberly und Columbia. Adam war in diesem Sommer schon zweimal mit den Kindern da, aber da ich immer arbeiten musste, war es mein erster Besuch dort. Also sind wir ein bisschen gewandert und mussten ziemlich viel Wasser durchqueren (es hatte das ganze Wochenende vorher durchgeregnet).<\/strong>

\nWe heard some other people talking on top of the bluffs as we were headed that way and suddenly the guy said: „honey, stay up there, there’s a pretty big copperhead right below you“. Ohhh, exciting we thought and went that way :). It was quite the sight and we spent at least 10 minutes circling the snake (and taking some pics). We were very careful climbing around the rest of the bluffs after that ^^. About 30 minutes later, when we were once again wading through some water we saw another one – this one wasn’t poisonous though and tried to hide from us pretty quickly. Still – that’s quite a count for 1.5 hours of hiking!<\/p>\n

Als wir selbst in Richtung der Felsen liefen, h\u00f6rten wir ein paar Leute reden und pl\u00f6tzlich sagte der Mann: „Schatz, bleib da oben – direkt unter dir liegt eine Kupferkopf-Schlange“ (das ist eine der giftigen Schlangenarten hier in Missouri). Wie spannend, dachten wir und sind sofort in die Richtung abgebogen. Durchaus ein aufregender Anblick so eine Schlange- wir haben bestimmt die n\u00e4chsten 10 Minuten damit verbracht um sie herum zu laufen und Fotos zu machen. Danach waren wir noch vorsichtiger als vorher bei unserer Kletterei auf den Felsen ^^. Ca. 30 Minuten sp\u00e4ter, als wir grade mal wieder durchs Wasser wateten, sahen wir eine weitere Schlange – diese war aber ungiftig und hat sich direkt versucht, vor uns zu verstecken. Trotzdem keine schlechte Statistik f\u00fcr 1,5 Stunden Wandern.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAfter a short visit in Columbia (note to self – the 4th of July is a great day for shopping – everything was so empty) and a haircut for Adam, we went back to Moberly. They had a big show planned with two bands performing and fireworks and all that jazz, plus a co-worker and friend of mine was there and got us in the back way. So our first order of business was a picture with LoCash who was the second band playing that night. We then hung around the side of the stage, had a few drinks and enjoyed the show.<\/p>\n

Nach einem kurzen Abstecher nach Columbia (mentale Notiz f\u00fcr die Zukunft: Ein super Tag zum Einkaufen, der 4. Juli – alles leer) und einem Haarschnitt f\u00fcr Adam, sind wir zur\u00fcck nach Moberly gefahren. Dort war den ganzen Tag Programm und abends gabs 2 Bands und dann Feuerwerk – eine Kollegin und Freundin von mir war dort und hat uns direkt in den VIP-Bereich geschleust. Also war der erste Programmpunkt ein Foto mit LoCash – der zweiten Band an dem Abend. Wir haben das Konzert vom B\u00fchnenrand verfolgt, ein paar Gl\u00e4schen Sekt getrunken und Musik und sp\u00e4ter Feuerwerk genossen.<\/strong>

\n<\/a>P.S. Those are not lighters – no, those are cell phone lights. Crazy ^^.

Wednesday night we had another highlight coming – one of the theaters in Columbia is showing movie classics over the summer and this week’s movie was Jaws<\/em>. Since neither of us had been born before 1975, we just had to see this one :).
\nAm Mittwoch Abend gabs dann noch ein Highlight der besonderen Art – ein Kino in Columbia zeigt den Sommer \u00fcber Klassiker und diese Woche war das Der wei\u00dfe Hai<\/em>. Mussten wir nat\u00fcrlich sehen – 1975 war noch keiner von uns auf der Welt, um ins Kino zu gehen :).<\/strong>
