When I got to the school to pick up the kids on Monday (as I do every Monday at around 5 pm), Owen could not wait to tell me what had happened to him that day: he had (quite unexpectedly and due to a very hard cookie) lost his first tooth. Of course he was incredibly proud and was wearing the lost tooth in a tooth-shaped box around his neck :-). Alyssa told him that her first tooth had been worth $5 and to better not forget to put it under his pillow that night. Which started a funny frenzy for Adam and myself since neither of us had any cash and where there\u2019s no cash there most certainly will not be any tooth fairy- visits ^^. Adam even tried to run by the bank, but they were already closed. So we borrowed $5 from Alyssa (and gave it back the very next day, of course) and stuck it under his pillow after he had fallen asleep. Now was he grateful, you think? He got up the next morning and came into the kitchen telling us (clearly disappointed) that \u201call he found was 5 bucks\u201d. Ungrateful little *****, lol. So we just told him unless his tooth were made out of gold or diamonds he best be happy with what he got (\u201call I ever got was a quarter\u201d Adam said. Deb told him later that for her it used to be a dime). He will not be pleased to find out that anything after the first tooth is only worth a dollar ;-).
\nThe same night he had his kindergarten music program which was short and therefore sweet \u2013 it was actually quite funny to watch, because \u2013 as you could expect with 5-6 year olds their level of professionalism was quite diverse ^^.<\/p>\n

Als ich am Montag Nachmittag in der Schule ankam, um die Kids abzuholen (was ich jeden Montag gegen 17 Uhr tue), konnte Owen es kaum erwarten, mir vom gr\u00f6\u00dften Ereignis seines Tages zu berichten: er hat (total unerwartet und dank eines sehr harten Kekses) seinen ersten Zahn verloren. Er war nat\u00fcrlich stolz wie Oskar und trug den verlorenen Zahn in einer zahnf\u00f6rmigen Box um den Hals :-). Alyssa kl\u00e4rte ihn dar\u00fcber auf, dass der erste Zahn 5 Dollar wert sei und erinnerte ihn mehrfach daran, den Zahn unter seinem Kopfkissen zu deponieren. Was eine ganze Latte an unerwarteter Aktivit\u00e4t f\u00fcr Adam und mich bedeutete, da keiner von uns beiden Bargeld hatte und ohne Bargeld keine Zahn Fee ^^. Adam ist sogar extra noch zur Bank, aber die war schon zu. Also haben wir uns am Ende 5 $ von Alyssa geliehen und sch\u00f6n unter Owens Kopfkissen deponiert. Was meint ihr, hat er sich gefreut? Er stand am n\u00e4chsten Morgen auf, kam in die K\u00fcche und informierte uns (klar entt\u00e4uscht), dass er \u201cnur 5$\u201c gefunden h\u00e4tte. Undankbarer kleiner ****, lol. Also haben wir ihn informiert, dass er \u2013 au\u00dfer wenn er Z\u00e4hne aus Gold oder Diamanten h\u00e4tte \u2013 besser mit dem zufrieden ist, was er da bekommen hat (\u201eIch hab immer nur 25 Cent bekommen\u201c, sagte Adam und Debbie erkl\u00e4rte ihm sp\u00e4ter, dass es bei ihr sogar nur 10 Cent waren). Er wird trotzdem wenig erfreut dar\u00fcber sein, dass alle folgenden Z\u00e4hne nur noch einen Doller wert sein werden ;-).
\nAm selben Abend hatte Owen sein Kindergarten Musik-Programm, was recht kurz und somit sehr ertr\u00e4glich war. Es war tats\u00e4chlich sehr lustig, den 5-6 J\u00e4hrigen zuzuschauen, da ihr Level and Professionalit\u00e4t sehr variiert ^^.

\nWorking for a company that thrives for profit definitely has its perks \u2013 I found that out last week when a bonus was announced for all employees and although I had only worked there for 3.5 months in 2015, I thought I got rather a good bit of money. Enough to buy us concert tickets to see Weezer and Paul McCartney this summer :-D.
\nWe also had our health fair at work this week, organized by my very own mother-in-law who definitely made quite an entrance: she was dressed up as a mosquito to inform about the Zika virus. Isn\u2019t it awesome?<\/p>\n

F\u00fcr einen nach Profit strebenden Arbeitgeber zu arbeiten hast definitiv Vorteile, wie ich letzte Woche herausfand, als ein Bonus f\u00fcr alle Mitarbeiter verk\u00fcndet wurde. Obwohl ich in 2015 nur 3,5 Monate hier gearbeitet habe, fand ich meine Auszahlung wirklich nicht \u00fcbel. Es war jedenfalls genug, um uns Konzertkarten f\u00fcr Weezer und Paul McCartney im Sommer zu kaufen :-D.<\/strong>
\nDiese Woche war unsere Gesundheitsmesse bei der Arbeit, organisiert von meiner Schwiegermutter, die dann auch prompt den besten Auftritt lieferte und im Moskito-Kost\u00fcm auflief (um \u00fcber das Zika-Virus zu informieren). Super, oder?
