In medical news I switched to a dentist here in Moberly, since going to one in Macon makes no sense while I\u2019m working here. Plus to me the Macon dentist seemed too \u201cdrill-happy\u201d and I really wanted a second opinion. One of my bosses eight (!) sons happens to be a dentist whose practice is a few minutes from here and Debbie praised him highly. So two weeks ago I went for my check-up and went back this week to get a few cavities filled (apparently the rotting starts at 30 ^^ – I never had anything at all before then and now stuff had to be filled two years in a row). However American dentists definitely are more \u201cdrill-happy\u201d \u2013 annual x-rays allow them to see cavities you\u2019d miss with the naked eye. My dental hygiene was teeth were generally praised, but my molars are just close together and cavities can\u2019t be avoided entirely it seems. So he drilled and filled. My much beloved last baby tooth (obviously since it\u2019s still in my mouth) won\u2019t be making it much further either and will have to be replaced by an implant when the time comes. I\u2019m so not in a hurry when it comes to that, lol.
\nI also had another eye check-up and they\u2019re in great shape \u2013 I can see perfectly and the doctor thinks they look perfect.<\/p>\n
Meinen Zahnarzt hatte ich mir nach dem Umzug ja erst mal in Macon gesucht \u2013 was nun mit Arbeiten in Moberly aber wenig Sinn ergibt. Au\u00dferdem fand ich die Damen und Herren ein wenig zu bohr-freudig und wollte gerne eine zweite Meinung. Gesagt, getan \u2013 einer der acht (!) S\u00f6hne meines Chefs ist Zahnarzt \u2013 hochgelobt von meiner Schwiegermutter \u2013 und direkt um die Ecke. Also war ich vor 2 Wochen zur Kontrolle dort und diese Woche zum Bohren (anscheinend beginnt mit 30 der Verfall ^^ – da hatte ich vorher genau gar nie was an den Z\u00e4hnen und jetzt muss pl\u00f6tzlich j\u00e4hrlich gebohrt werden). Die Amis sind allerdings grunds\u00e4tzlich auch definitiv bohr-freudiger \u2013 es wir auch gerne j\u00e4hrlich ger\u00f6ntgt, womit nat\u00fcrlich auch Sachen auffallen, die das blo\u00dfe Auge nicht sieht. Wie dem auch sei \u2013 meine Z\u00e4hne und Mundhygiene hat der Zahnarzt sehr gelobt, aber die Backenz\u00e4hne sind halt nah aneinander und da kann man Karies leider nicht immer vermeiden. Also wurde gebohrt. Mein hei\u00dfgeliebter letzter Milchzahn (offensichtlich \u2013 er ist immer noch da!) wird wohl leider auch nicht mehr allzu lange mitmachen und muss dann mit einem Implantat ersetzt werden.. Ich hab es da aber so gar nicht eilig, lol.<\/strong> It was in the high 60ies all week and even up to 77 on Monday \u2013 totally crazy but definitely not unwelcome :). Unfortunately these temperatures were accompanied by thunderstorms and tons of rain. So the ants are back ^^. I think I might just prefer winter! \nAs far as our car situation is concerned, Adam put the Elantra on craigslist this week and we had someone pick it up on the first day. Better to get a $400 out of it than nothing, I suppose. Now we\u2019ll be back to car-shopping for a second (cheaper) vehicle.
\nWas die Autos angeht: Den Elantra hat Adam diese Woche auf Craigslist hochgeladen und es hat ihn gleich am ersten Tag jemand genommen. Wenigstens haben wir so 400 $ wiederbekommen. Also beginnt jetzt wieder die Autosuche, damit wir bald ein zweites (g\u00fcnstigeres) Fahrzeug haben.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nWir hatten die ganze Woche \u00fcber um die 20 Grad, am Montag waren es sogar eher 25\u00b0 – v\u00f6llig verr\u00fcckt, aber sehr willkommen :).
