After hesitating for months, I finally (wo)man-ed up and made an appointment to get my hair done here ^^. In Moberly to be exact – at the salon where I was finally scheduled for my massage again (the one I never made it to thanks to the car breaking down). So last Saturday, I got my 45-minute massage which was heavenly, because my back had been hurting pretty badly for weeks and afterwards I went two rooms down to get new highlights and a haircut. I spent over 2.5 hours at the place, but I was both relaxed and very happy with the results and think I have found a new hairdresser I can trust (though no one will ever replace Melanie :‘)). Since it was our anniversary date night on Saturday, I happily let her style my hair too and thought she really did a great job.
\nNachdem ich monatelang gez\u00f6gert hatte, habe ich mir endlich ein Herz gefasst und mir hier einen Termin zum Haare machen geben lassen ^^. In Moberly um genau zu sein und zwar in demselben Salon, in dem ich f\u00fcr meine Massage ohnehin einen Termin hatte (die, die ich wegen des aufgebenden Autos nie bekommen hatte). Letzten Samstag war es also soweit: Ich lie\u00df mich 45 Minuten lang durchkneten, was genial war, da mein R\u00fccken mal wieder seit Wochen echt weh getan hatte und danach ging ich zwei R\u00e4ume weiter und bekam neue Str\u00e4hnchen und einen Haarschnitt. Ich war \u00fcber 2,5 Stunden in dem Laden, aber sehr entspannt und absolut gl\u00fccklich mit dem Ergebnis. Ich denke ich habe eine Friseurin gefunden, zu der ich wieder gehen werde (auch wenn nie irgendwer Melanie ersetzen wird :‘)). Da wir an dem Abend unser Hochzeitstags-Date hatten, habe ich sie meine Haare auch noch zurecht f\u00f6hnen lassen und fand, dass sie das super gemacht hat.

\nIn case you’re wondering, why we had our anniversary date on Saturday when our anniversary wasn’t till Sunday, that’s easily explained: For one we got the kids back on Sunday night, so after 7 pm we would have had to be home. Secondly, Adam had to work on Sunday, as he does. Thirdly and possibly most importantly (to him anyway, lol): the Broncos played in the AFC championship game on Sunday afternoon and of course we had to watch that. And we did. And then watched part of the next game too, just because it was fun :). So instead we went to a nice restaurant in Columbia on Saturday and watched a movie and just had an anniversary weekend. Very nice that!
\nFalls ihr euch jetzt fragt, warum wir unser Hochzeitstags-Date schon am Samstagabend hatten, obwohl unser Hochzeitstag doch erst am Sonntag war, ist das leicht zu beantworten: Zum einen kamen am Sonntagabend um 19 Uhr die Kids zur\u00fcck, weshalb wir zuhause sein mussten. Zum andere musste Adam arbeiten, wie immer sonntags. Au\u00dferdem – und das vermutlich Adams wichtigster Grund (lol) – spielten die Broncos nachmittags im AFC Endspiel und das musste nat\u00fcrlich angeschaut werden. Haben wir also auch getan. Und dann noch einen Teil des n\u00e4chsten Spiels angeschaut, weil es einfach gut war :). Also waren wir stattdessen am Samstag in einem netten Restaurant in Columbia essen und danach im Kino. Hochzeitstags-Wochenende also. Sehr gute Sache!<\/strong><\/p>\n

In other news our zealous German learner has made it to the part of her German book with all the self-adhesive labels. So she labeled. Everything. No really, everything. When I came home that night, I was greeted by a sticker on our front door that said „die T\u00fcr“ and the phonetic transcription for English speakers. There are quite a few labels all over the house, but most of them are clearly in Alyssa’s room. I now get told „Guten Morgen“ in the mornings and she uses „bitte“ and „danke“ quite a bit :-).
\nUnsere eifrige Deutschsch\u00fclerin hat in ihrem Deutschbuch die selbstklebenden Schilder gefunden. Also hat sie Schilder im Haus verteilt. \u00dcberall. Nein wirklich, \u00fcberall. Als ich an dem Abend heimkam, sah ich als erstes den Sticker an der Haust\u00fcr „die T\u00fcr“. Mit phonetischer Transkription f\u00fcr den englischen Muttersprachler. Es sind eine Menge Schilder \u00fcberall im Haus verteilt, aber die meisten ohne Zweifen in Alyssas Zimmer. Morgens werde ich jetzt nur noch mit „Guten Morgen“ begr\u00fc\u00dft und sie benutzt flei\u00dfig „bitte“ und „danke“ :-).<\/strong>

\nLast but most definitely not least I had my Lasik appointment on Thursday. All that took maybe an hour total including preparations before and after (the lasering itself takes 35-40 seconds per eye between two lasers). Adam got to watch but didn’t watch the whole thing – „I stopped when they started poking your eye“. He did take a few pictures though. The procedure itself was painless and no problem at all. The two hours after were pretty rough and despite the valium I had been given, I couldn’t take the prescribed nap until my eyes stopped hurting at least to some degree. After I woke back up I was fine – my eyes were sore and bloodshot, but not bad and the slight haze was gone by Friday morning. Goodbye glasses!!
\nZu guter Letzt war da ja noch das Lasern meiner Augen am Donnerstag. Das Ganze hat mit Vor- und Nachbereitung insgesamt vielleicht eine Stunde gedauert (das Lasern selbst dauerte nur 35-40 Sekunden pro Auge mit zwei verschiedenen Lasern). Adam konnte zuschauen, aber hat nicht die ganze Zeit hingeschaut – „als sie angefangen haben dir im Auge rumzufummeln, habe ich weggeschaut“. Aber er hat ein paar Bilder gemacht. Die Behandlung selbst war schmerzfrei und \u00fcberhaupt kein Problem. Die ersten zwei Stunden danach waren ziemlich fies und trotz des Valium, das ich bekommen hatte, konnte ich das verschriebene Nickerchen nicht machen, bis meine Augen aufh\u00f6rten etwas weniger wehzutun. Nachdem ich wieder aufgewacht bin, war alles gut – meine Augen waren empfindlich und rot, aber nicht mehr schlimm und der leichte Nebel in der Sicht war am Freitag morgen weg. Tsch\u00f6 Brille!!<\/strong><\/p>\n
